The Great Lakes region is well positioned to play a leading role in the future of sustainable fuels.
The Great Lakes Sustainable Fuels Symposium, hosted by the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan and partners, will bring together growers, industry leaders, innovators, policymakers, and other stakeholders for two days of discussion about the opportunities surrounding sustainable fuel production in Michigan and across the region.
The symposium will explore the growing role of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and other renewable fuels, including opportunities to create new markets for Michigan agriculture, strengthen farm profitability, provide sustainable fueling options for the transportation sector, attract investment, and support economic development throughout Michigan and the Great Lakes.
Speakers from Michigan and across the country will share perspectives on sustainable fuel markets, technology, policy, infrastructure, and investment, including Juan Sacoto of S&P Global, who will discuss the role sustainable fuels are expected to play in the future growth of the energy sector.
Day One: Laying the Groundwork for Investment
An educational day designed for a broad audience — growers, business leaders, and policymakers alike. Hear from experts on feedstock supply, transportation and logistics, the current policy landscape shaping SAF production and the partnerships needed to be successful in this work. The day concludes with a networking reception at The Henry, celebrating Michigan’s legacy of innovation.
Day Two: Cultivating the Path Forward
Roll up your sleeves and get ready to dig into the details. Participants will break into workgroups to document the assets, barriers, and current landscape informing SAF feasibility in the Great Lakes region, leaving with a clear understanding of next steps and how to stay involved.
