Watch the Renewables Academy Webinar Series Recordings

TRC’s Clean Transportation Solutions Team recently released a three-part educational series that brought together leading fleet operators, OEMs, and fuel providers to share real-world insights on solutions available today. Throughout the series, expert speakers highlighted how fleets are cutting fuel costs, reducing emissions, and maintaining uptime using low-carbon diesel fuel replacements and renewable natural gas—without disrupting operations or vehicle performance.

In the third and final of the sessions, Penske, ADM Trucking, and Optimus Technologies shared how renewable diesel (RD) and biodiesel (BD) are delivering cost-effective alternatives to conventional diesel. The session, titled Drop-in Renewables for Diesel Vehicles, explored the key differences between RD and BD, how fleets are using high biodiesel blends year-round—including in cold climates—and how combining both fuels can help replace 100% of diesel while meeting cost, operational, and sustainability goals.

Watch the Recording to Learn:

  • How biodiesel is currently blended into most fuel supplies and how fleets in cold climates manage the use of higher volumes
  • How a breakthrough technology allows diesel engines to run on nearly 100% biodiesel (B99) without cold-climate impacts
  • How renewable diesel is a fully drop-in replacement for diesel (ASTM D975) that can reduce maintenance costs and offer other benefits
  • How renewable diesel supply is widely available at low or no additional cost on the West Coast and increasingly across the country
  • How a renewable fuels strategy that combines BD and RD—sometimes in the same tank—can help fleets meet cost, operational, and sustainability goals
